James Gunn taps into a surefire way to win over Superman fans: by paying homage to the iconic 1978 Superman film. The latest trailer echoes that film’s memorable moment where Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane interviews Christopher Reeve’s Superman. This time, it's Rachel Brosnahan's Lois facing off with David Corenswet's Man of Steel, and the scene crackles with a similar romantic spark—though with some modern twists.

Unlike in the original, this version of Lois already knows Superman’s true identity. Her line of questioning is sharper, more probing, adding a different layer of tension. One standout moment features Lois confronting Superman about his unauthorized involvement in an overseas conflict—hinting at the moral and political complexities at the heart of the new DC film.

While Superman may see himself as a lone agent of good—“I wasn’t representing anybody except for me,” he insists—the U.S. government sees things differently, echoing themes explored in Captain America: Civil War.
