3 Doors Down’s Brad Arnold Reveals Stage Four Kidney Cancer Diagnosis
Brad Arnold, lead singer of American rock band 3 Doors Down, has shared that he’s battling stage four kidney cancer. In a heartfelt Instagram video, the 46-year-old revealed he has clear cell renal carcinoma, which has spread to his lungs. "That's stage four, and that's not real good," he said.
The band rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like Kryptonite, Here Without You, and It's Not My Time, selling over 13 million albums in the U.S. Reflecting on his diagnosis, Arnold wrote: "Now, I believe It’s Not My Time is really my song. This will be a battle, so we need our prayer warriors!"
Formed in Mississippi, 3 Doors Down made their breakthrough with Kryptonite, which peaked at number three on the U.S. charts in 2000. Their debut album The Better Life became the 11th best-selling album in the U.S. that year. They continued their success with top five singles like Here Without You and When I’m Gone, and reached number one on the album charts with Seventeen Days in 2005 and a self-titled release in 2008.
The band also performed at President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017.
In his message, Arnold expressed faith and courage: "You know what, we serve almighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I am really, sincerely not scared of it at all." However, he confirmed that the band’s summer tour will be canceled due to his treatment.
"I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get," he added. "And I think it’s time for me to maybe go listen to It’s Not My Time a little bit, right?"
